My trip to Italy

Ros & I visited Turin on holiday. The first day was spent there. I highly recommend the NATIONAL CINEMA MUSEUM situated at the Mole. The building is amazing and contains a lift to take you to the top. From there, you can see views of Turin. The museum tells the history of cinema from the Zoetrope to Munroe's shoes. It's very entertaining, although a guide in English would help. I think this is one of the best museums in the world.

Day two and we travelled by train to Viareggio. Going in September, the place wasn't exactly buzzing. However there are smart shops and lots of places to eat. For a seaside resort it's fine BUT you can't go on the beach because they seem to be all private. From the promenade you can hardly see the beach. Don't travel there from Turin as it's a four hour train ride each way.

Day three saw Ros & I go to Lake Como. It's not as far as Viareggio and you change in Milan. Travel on the IC Swiss train from Milano to Como as the local train doesn't bear comparison ! Como is very pretty and a boat ride on the lake is nice. It takes 1 1/2 hours and is for travel to the towns dotted around the lake. We just stayed on it until it returned back to Como.

Last day and we went to Milan. From Central Station, you take the Underground (Metro) to Duomo. There you find the second largest church in the world. Next to it is Milan's famous shopping arcade. Milan is a shopper's paradise. There are clothes and shoe shops galore. Ros didn't get any shoes although it wasn't for lack of trying. There are lots of bookshops there as well. Catching the train back to Turin in the rush hour is not a good idea. Wait for a later IC train.

P.S. Food at Turin Airport is expensive. Ryanair should allocate their seats at check-in.
